Flights To Africa, Discover A Different World

Flights to Africa, discover a different world.  Africa is the world's second-largest and second most-populous continent, after Asia. At about 30.2 million sq km (11.7 million sq mi) including adjacent islands, it covers 6% of the Earth's total surface area and 20.4% of the total land area. With a billion people (as of 2009, see table) in 61 territories, it accounts for about 14.8% of the World's human population.

The continent is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, both the Suez Canal and the Red Sea along the Sinai Peninsula to the northeast, the Indian Ocean to the southeast, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. The quality of Africa’s resource endowment for tourism is exceptional, but most countries have only barely developed their tourism potential. Ok...guys, Flights to Africa, and you will discover a different world.

The continent receives about 4% of all international travelers and tourism receipts, but tourism is “significant” (>2% GDP and >5% exports) in about half of SSA countries. Countries in Africa are now focusing on tourism as a source of growth and diversification, but with only limited policy guidance from most donors, despite the sector’s potential. At present, the World Bank Group (WBG) provides limited support for tourism and has no overall sector strategy, though the CDF, PRSP and CAS are helping to define such strategies in a few countries.
